Chosen Youth Easter Message 2021

As Catholics, we commemorate Christ's suffering and death on the cross during the Holy Week. A cross that was once thought to be a symbol of punishment, becomes a symbol of salvation for mankind. On Easter Sunday, we rejoice knowing that Jesus has defeated sin and death. Christ's Resurrection is the strength, the secret Mystery of Christianity. “He is not here, for he has risen,” are the most exciting words in St Matthew's Gospel.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, "The Resurrection of Jesus is the crowning truth of our faith in Christ, a faith believed and lived as the central truth by the first Christian community, handed on as fundamental by Tradition; established by the documents of the New Testament; and preached as an essential part of the Paschal mystery along with the cross" (CCC 638)

Pope Saint John Paul II loved to quote St. Augustine –
“Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and Alleluia is our song.”
What an accurate message for our present generation! For when we're concerned about the Pandemic, unable to do what we want; and terrified, we must remember that We are the Hopeful People! Easter people! The current situation of suffering, isolation, and insecurity can be daunting. But, it is through our Faith in the Resurrection that we must stay strong in these storms of life.

As Youth, we are trapped by the new technology and latest updates on our phones. But, we should always keep the Easter joy in our hearts as well as share it with others, without being overwhelmed by worldly pleasures.

Quoting our Diocesan motto, we have "A Future Full of Hope!"

A Blessed and Holy Easter To All!

God Bless,

Chosen Youth Swindon
